The George Washington University (GW) School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) and the GW Medical Faculty Associates (GW MFA), are pleased to present a series of conversations with GW’s trailblazing leaders and innovators in clinical, scientific, and educational fields. These members of our community are charting the future, working to solidify SMHS/GW MFA as a leader in LGBTQI+ health, and continuing to lay the foundation of our inclusive and supportive community.
The series, GW PRIDE STORIES, is presented by GW Resiliency & Well-being Center, the SMHS Office of Student Support, and the SMHS Office of Diversity and Inclusion, featuring the SMHS/GW MFA faculty members who have helped lay the groundwork that makes the school a destination where our LGBTQI+ patients, students, trainees, faculty, and staff receive care, learn, and work with PRIDE.
We are pleased to launch this series with an interview with Jeffrey S. Akman, MD, GW SMHS's First Openly Gay Vice President and Dean.
